  • Dragons Den / Entrepreneurship
  • Key Skills

Along with many many more, which you can see on our e-shot here!

peer mentoring

Our most recent delivery of Peer Mentoring in Bishop Hedley High School has received praise from the SENCO, who told us that, Already we have seen an increase in self-esteem and confidence levels.  We look forward to utilising our pupils’ newly gained skills with our primary schools.”

Furthermore, the pupils who participated in the course had great things to say about what they had learnt:

It was a very enjoyable and practical experience which I have thoroughly taking an interest to.  I now have the confidence and knowledge to go off and be able to be a peer mentor to a younger person from a primary school. I am unable to think of a negative comment to say about the course.  Thank you JanRo”

I am really looking forward to becoming a peer mentor and I would like to build a safe relationship with the young people I mentor.  I most enjoyed the practical activities. Thank you JanRo”

If this sounds like something that you would be interested in doing, then please get in touch with us.

The rise of Pinterest as a Marketing Tool

pinterest-logo

We’re all probably familiar with the use of Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as marketing tools, but the newbie on the scene taking the digital marketing world by storm is Pinterest. Whilst consumers may view Pinterest as simply a means of inspiration and sharing pictures, it’s slowly joining its competitors as a way of marketing.

According to WSJ Technology, “Pinterest is poised to become Madison Avenue’s newest darling, and this year will be a critical period to see if the website can turn the initial hype into a serious advertising business.”

The ‘digital-image’ website differs from its peers as its users directly tell advertisers and businesses what they are looking to purchase. By re-pinning images, you’re able to see what people want to buy, whether it’s a holiday to the Bahamas, a new garden, or a complete home re-vamp.

“While Pinterest remains smaller than Facebook FB +1.63%, Instagram or Twitter TWTR +1.08%, the report concludes size isn’t necessarily an issue because of the value already exhibited by its current audience.”

According to an eMarketer report, “Those who use Pinterest share valuable data about their interests and aspirations, something that isn’t as natural an activity on other social platforms.” EMarketer forecasts about 47.1 million U.S. users will log into the service at least once a month this year, up 11.3% from 2014. That figure is based on survey data from third-party sources such as comScore and Pew Research. ComScore itself estimates Pinterest received about 75.8 million unique visitors in the U.S. in January, up 37% from a year ago.

But the barrier facing Pinterest in its rise, is how established Facebook already is. When it comes to marketing on Facebook, they are fully equipped with tools, analytics and systems that businesses are already familiar with.

“For starters, the targeting capabilities on Pinterest are basic, allowing advertisers to target users by broad criteria such as geography, gender and interests they follow. Advertisers are also clamoring for more data, and are especially keen on getting insight around how users interact with pins. Pinterest’s “lack of openness” is frustrating to some, according to the report.”

The head of operations at Pinterest has said that improving add targeting is now a priority.

So will Pinterest be the next big thing in Digital Marketing? What are your thoughts?

download

Learning at Work Week is two months away and now is the perfect time to start planning your activities. The theme for this year is Shaping our Future.

The week is organised by the Campaign for Learning and the focus of the week is to raise awareness and highlight the benefits of learning and development.

As a training compnay we obviously highly value and understand the importance of staff development; and it is something we heavily invest in. We came across the picture below on Linkedin and think that it raises a good point that should certainly get you thinking!

When planning you week we think it’s good to start with a goal. This will ensure that you get everything you can out of the week. Here are some things to consider if you are a business thinking of organising an event:

  • What courses would your team benefit from?
  • How can you motivate them to learn?
  • How can you use training to develop your employees which will in turn benefit the organisation?
  • How can you bring colleagues from different departments together?
  • What can you do to make the week engaging?

You can visit the official website for the week by clicking here and you can register for free by clicking here.

Let’s make it happen: International Women’s Day 2015

centredinternationalwomensday

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th. The day is all about celebrating the achievements of woman as well asking for equality for women in both the UK and the rest of the World.

The theme for 2015 is…Make it happen!  And there are lots of ways you can support the day. Such as running an event or getting a group of your friends together to talk about issues affecting women across the world and celebrating the women in your lives who you look up to and appreciate.

Here are some questions to ask learners to help get them engaged with International Women’s Day:

  • Has anyone heard of/celebrate International Women’s Day before?
  • What women do you look up to? and Why?
  • Why do you think are the most important women in history?
  • What inventions can you name that were invented by women?

∗ What are you doing to raise awareness and celebrate the day? ∗
